Fish Creek Field Trip

This week we had the privilege to go to wonderful Fish Creek Provincial Park for a field trip. Here we used topographical maps and compasses to find our way around on the trails and find some special marked spots, this is called orienteering. Many of the students saw deer, squirrels, chipmunks and different species of birds. Some of the groups were able to find many of the 12 markers around the trails, but none found all of them. We had a wonderful day exploring in the snow and getting used to using a map to get around and find things. Feel free to ask your children what their favorite part of the day at Fish Creek was.

  1. What a great day for a snowy field trip. Not one team found all 12 markers? That's an exciting problem...who is hoping to go back at try again? Perhaps you can ask your family to spend a day in one of Calgary's special gems - Fish Creek Park!
